Invisalign FAQs & Tips

How will wearing Invisalign affect my daily life?

How will wearing Invisalign affect my daily life?

One of the primary benefits of choosing Invisalign as your orthodontic treatment is that Invisalign has very little impact on your day-to-day routines at home, work or play! That's why our dentists recommend it as an ideal alternative to traditional braces.

Often our patients are surprised at how little Invisalign impacts their daily routine.

Unlike traditional braces which require extra care and attention, you can simply remove your Invisalign clear aligners as needed. Just be sure that you wear them for 20 to 22 hours every day.

Brushing & Flossing

Invisalign will have very little impact on your oral care routines at home. All you need to do is take your aligners out to clean your teeth twice daily as usual and whenever you enjoy a snack or meal.

We are delighted that many of our patients experience an improvement in their oral health since they tend to pay more attention to keeping their teeth clean while wearing the aligners.

Eating & Drinking

There's even more great news! Invisalign also won’t have any impact on what you eat. Remove your aligners at mealtime to enjoy all of your usual favourites then just put your aligners back in after you've finished eating and brushing your teeth.

You might want to consider making some small adjustments to your eating schedule, such as eating fewer, larger meals rather than snacking regularly and needing to clean your teeth after each snack.

You're able to drink water with your aligners in, but be sure to remove them before you drink any dark coloured, sugary or hot liquids in order to avoid discolouration or damage to your aligners.

Playing Sports

It's important to keep in mind that Invisalign aligners help straighten your teeth, but they won't protect them from injury. If you play contact sports, it’s best to remove your aligners and wear a sports guard instead. Sports mouth guards are designed specifically to protect your teeth while you’re playing, and it helps keep your aligners safe.
