Invisalign® Myths Debunked

Straightening your teeth with Invisalign's clear aligner system offers many advantages over traditional orthodontic treatment! However, a number of myths have developed around Invisalign. It's time to debunk those myths and set the record straight!

Myth 1: Straightening your smile with Invisalign takes longer than traditional braces.

Some orthodontic issues are more efficiently treated with traditional braces. However, typically, treatment time with Invisalign is similar to traditional braces, and in some cases it can even be significantly faster!

Myth 2: Invisalign costs much more than traditional braces.

The truth is that, in most dental offices the cost of Invisalign treatment is comparable to the cost of traditional braces.

Myth 3: Invisalign clear aligners make you speak with a lisp.

Most patients don’t experience any problems speaking while wearing their Invisalign aligners. That said, patients who do experience a slight lisp when they first get their aligners, find that the lisp disappears within a couple of days. Keeping the aligners in and getting used to talking with them is the key to success. Practice makes perfect!

Myth 4: Treatment results with Invisalign are not as good as traditional braces.

Invisalign treatment done by an experienced dentist or orthodontist should give you results as good as with traditional metal braces.

Myth 5: Invisalign can’t correct severe orthodontic problems.

In fact, many experienced dentists and orthodontists are offering Invisalign treatment to almost all of their orthodontic patients including those patients with severe crowding and overbites.
