Throughout your Invisalign orthodontic treatment you will be able to enjoy your evolving smile, but what can you expect after your treatment is complete?
Invisalign clear orthodontic aligners can be used to correct a variety of orthodontic issues from the most simple to more complex. As your treatment progresses your dentist will monitor your smile and track your progress, and since Invisalign aligners are almost invisible when worn, you will be able to enjoy your smile as it evolves.
As you move though the phases laid out in your personalized treatment plan, you will get closer and closer to your end goal, until you achieve the straight new smile that you have always wanted. But then what?
Get Out There and Smile
Congratulations! You followed your personalized treatment plan and now you have the straight smile you've always wanted. So, is that it? Not quite.
As with any orthodontic treatment, once your teeth been shifted to where you want them, it's going to take a little while for them to get settled. That's where retainers come in.
Following your Invisalign treatment you will likely need to wear a retainer to hold your teeth in place while the tissues around each tooth settle. Your dentist may advise you to wear a retainer full-time for the first six months following Invisalign treatment, then move to part-time wear for the next 6 months. Twelve months of retainer wear should allow enough time for your jaw to firm up and hold your teeth in their new positions.
